KEEP "Kalm" – that is the message that bus company First Eastern Counties is aiming at its drivers at the Lynn depot.
It has taken the step of introducing them to an advanced safe driving course that has already proved successful all over the world in increasing awareness of safe driving techniques and reducing accidents.

The key pointers to what is known as the Smith's System spell out:

Get the bigger picture;

Keep your eyes moving;

Aim high in steering;

Leave yourself an out and make yourself seen - that is G-KALM.

The system recognises that most collisions are preventable if correct driving habits are learned and practised.

First Eastern Counties launched the system at Lynn last week as part of an ongoing focus on safety issues and is providing the training for all of its drivers.

Last week it held a special Smith's Week at the depot with supervisors dressed in eye-catching green G-Kalm t-shirts.
