The two siblings most involved in the running of the pub are the former assistant manager, Justin (31), and Steven (28), who has worked at the Feathers since he was 16. Older brother Darren (35), works in London and will be a sleeping partner in the business.

They took over the reins on August 12 after a six-week closure following the departure of former licensees Tony and Maxine Martin.

Justin said: "It's been very busy since we reopened and we have had a lot of support from the local community. On day one, about 30 regulars came in to help us spring clean the place."

Customers were especially happy to see the pub was in the hands of local people, he said.

Future plans included redecorating and reopening the Stables sports bar and redecorating the rest of the pub, maintaining its traditional feel, said Justin.

Customers had been very complimentary about the new menu.

"All the food is fresh. The only frozen items we are buying are chips and peas," he said.

The brothers have retained many of the original staff, including kitchen assistant Mrs Kay Amos, of Dersingham, who has worked at the Feathers for more than 30 years.
