KIER PLANT'S main UK depot, at Setchey, is setting new standards for staff on building sites.
The days of shabby, draughty shacks are gone, replaced by site cabins that are clean, comfortable and super-efficient.
The Setch team, led by site accommodation manager Dave Jordan, has just installed the new Green Space units at Slough Trading Estate where Kier is building a major data storage centre.
The £12m scheme is being carried out by another Kier company which commissioned the Lynn depot to supply the site accommodation, including offices, open plan meeting rooms, workers' canteen and a changing room and toilet block.
The Green Space unit can stand alone or be linked to form suites of temporary accommodation up to three storeys high.
They are fully insulated, double-glazed and energy efficient. "It is a major step forward for staff welfare," said Mr Jordan.
His team is responsible for maintaining around 3,800 accommodation units for hire, including the new Green Space range.
