PROPERTY and business consultants Brown & Co have relocated their Lynn office to a prestige position overlooking the town's historic Tuesday Market Place.
"Lynn has a great future as a thriving regional centre and Brown & Co is committed to being part of it," said the firm's managing partner, Jim Major. "With an 18-strong team, we had outgrown our King Street premises. The move to the newly-named Market Chambers will raise our visibility and create additional capacity for our continued development."

The new offices command a prime position with frontage on to the town's main busy market place. They were two buildings at one stage, Norwich Union occupied number 25 while a tailor occupied the other. At some stage post war, both buildings were demolished and 25-26 Tuesday Market Place was built.

Brown & Co acquired the building last year, after it stood empty for some years. After an intense three-month interior renovation project, carried out by local contractors and overseen by the firm's Norwich architectural department, the new premises have an airy and contemporary feel.

While retaining existing period features, the largely open-plan offices incorporate modern glass partitions to screen off the boardroom, meeting room and several quiet offices.

With a view to establishing a broader-based practice, the Wisbech office of Brown & Co moved to Lynn in 2003. The original land agency team, led by Jim Major, was soon joined by farm business consultant, Rob Hughes, from the Norwich office.

Now a partner, Rob heads a team of four, advising farmers and the region's landowners on issues from day-to-day management to grant funding.

A year later the Lynn office entered the commercial property arena with the appointment of commercial agent, John Weston, followed by Alison Richardson.

Further expansion of the rural department followed in 2006 and the amalgamation with Robin Lansdell's land agency practice.

Last year a dedicated residential sales office was estabished, led by Suzy Martin. The newest addition to the family is Lesley Levy, bringing her residential lettings operation from Fakenham to Lynn.

Lesley is offering a high-quality, professionally-organised lettings service.

Following the move, the Lynn office is widening its services available elsewhere in the firm, such as estate management, machinery valuations and sales, environmental consultancy, residential lettings and antique and collectables valuations and auctions.

Alongside specialist environmental services for farmers and landowners, the environmental consultancy team offer a carbon footprinting service for local businesses keen to assess and address their impact on global warning.
