100th ship arrived three years early
THIS was the scene as guests celebrate the arrival of Anglo Petroleum's 100th ship during a reception at the Riverside Rooms in Lynn.
In the foreground are managing director Clive Colls (left) and Lynn terminal manager Terence Carver.
The firm took over the former Mobil depot at Estuary Road in late 1981 and at that time planned to bring in 12 shiploads of fuel a year. But demand from the rural areas served by Anglo has proved so great that the Lynn operation has been stepped up.
When the 100th ship – the flag-bedecked Asperity with a cargo of motor spirit – docked at Lynn it was three years ahead of schedule.
To mark the arrival, a celebration was held by Anglo and guests included ship owners, customers and business associates.
