YOUNGSTERS at a Marshland school have taken part in a computer workshop tackling Internet safety.
Pupils at West Walton Community Primary School worked with police officers and safety experts to learn how to cope with cyber bullying and the importance of keeping personal information private.

The workshop, held at the school last Tuesday, was sponsored by E2BN the Government-funded supplier of Broadband Internet, learning resources and services to schools in the East of England.

PC Dave Glover, who helped run the event, said: "In our online session, we encouraged children to think about what was happening to our fictional character, 11-year-old Ellie, and give advice about how she should deal with online bullying. It's a hands-on, non-patronising way of learning about Internet safety."

Mr Kris Kastel, from E2BN, added: "As the Internet is such a big part of our lives today, educating our children about how to be safe online is really important.

"The Internet is a wonderful resource for learning and social interaction but ensuring that our children are aware of the potential dangers when using these tools must come first."

Youngsters learned not to give out personal information or passwords and not put up pictures of themselves, their family or friends on unprotected files.
