SILVER wedding couple Arthur and Rosemarie Wilkinson raised almost £300 for charity when they asked for donations instead of presents for their anniversary.
The couple, of Lynn Road, Terrington St Clement, held a big charity party at their home to mark 25 years of marriage earlier this month, and more than 70 friends and family attended.

Included among the guests were ballroom dancing legend Peggy Spencer, as Mr and Mrs Wilkinson used to be part of her formation dance team – holding demonstrations across the country – until about two years ago.

Mr Wilkinson (77) and his wife (68) asked for donations instead of presents for the cancer unit at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Motor Neurone Disease Association as a friend and relative of theirs have both died recently from the diseases.

A total of £180 was raised for the MND Association, and £115 for the cancer unit.

"We were really pleased with the amount raised and we had a wonderful anniversary," said Mr Wilkinson.
