'Babes in arms at Tilney'

Mums with babies and young children are predominant in this group photograph which was believed to have been taken in 1935 in the vicarage garden at Tilney All Saints.

The picture was brought into the Lynn News by Alan Pepper (75), of Tilney All Saints, whose wife Margaret (72), ne Hearle, is the three-month-old baby seen with her mum sixth right, in the front row.

He does not know the reason for this big get-together of villagers and wonders if any readers can provide the answer or recognise their relatives in the line-up.

"I thought it might be a church fete but some of the people in the picture wouldn't normally be going to that," he said. Mr Pepper said the three men in the back row are the Rev Mostyn Jones, with the dog collar, nurseryman Mr Lewis Reeve (fourth right) and local farmer Mr Gregory.
