Bentinck regulars set to climb on board in 1920s
THESE smartly-dressed men, most likely wearing their Sunday best, were photographed as they set off on a pub outing in the late 1920s.
The picture was provided by Hunstanton resident John Smith, whose grandfather Robert Smith can be seen on the back row, eighth from the left.
Mr Smith said his grandfather, who lived in Lynn all his life, was a fisherman who drank at the Bentinck Arms, which is still going strong in Loke Road today.
He added: "The other men in the picture are probably fishermen too. All but two of them are wearing flat caps and I think they are having a drink already!"
A large white jug – perhaps for beer – can be seen in the foreground and the bus, ready to whisk the friends away for a day out, can be seen in the background.
