Days left to comment on Lynn incinerator plans

RESIDENTS wishing to comment on plans to build an incinerator in Lynn have just a few days left to comment.

Developer Cory Wheelabrator has applied to put up an incinerator on Willows Business Park, Saddlebow.

Norfolk County Council launched a second round of public consultation in January and this will close on Monday. If you wish to comment email the council at: willowsprc@norfolk.gov.uk or write to Planning Services, Environment, Transport and Development, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2UD.

Cory was seen running a promotional stall for the scheme in the Tesco store at Aylsham, which is more than 40 miles away.

Anti-incinerator campaigner John Martin said: “Cory Wheelabrator must be feeling desperate with the final consultation period coming to an end if they consider it necessary to travel as far east as Aylsham to garner support for the planning application.”

Cory says that it was giving information on the scheme and asking for support for the planning application.

The consortium says it is holding a number of these events across Norfolk and is giving an opportunity for every parish to comment.

It also stated that the project could save £200 million over the course of the 25-year- project.

The consortium also says that all of the forms had the recipient’s name and address.

Business development director Paul Green said: “The proposed Willows Power and Recycling Centre is a £500 million development project in Norfolk, which is one of the largest inward investment schemes in the county for many of years.

“The proposals will also create over 1,000 new jobs during the construction phase and 40 permanent jobs over the next 25 years.

“The Cory Wheelabrator Consortium is committed to engaging with the local community and wants to maximize the benefits for Norfolk by employing local people and suppliers.

“To enable people to find out more about the project as well as potential opportunities for business, we’re hosting a series of street stall events across the county to answer any questions and show people how they can get involved as this important development moves forward.”
