INCINERATOR: Legal bid welcomed
CAMPAIGNERS protesting against plans to build an incinerator on the outskirts of Lynn have applauded West Norfolk council’s decision to apply for a judicial review of ministers’ decision to provide cash for the project.
People fighting against Norfolk County Council and Cory Wheelabrator’s plans to construct an incinerator on the Willows Business Park in Saddlebow, have welcomed the borough’s stance.
More than 30 people crowded into Lynn Town Hall on Thursday night to hear the council’s debate and clapped when members unanimously voted in favour of launching a judicial review.
Campaigner Mike Knights has praised the council but said he was concerned some councillors, such as twin hatters Michael Langwade and Harry Humphrey, had not attended the meeting.
He said: “I think the borough council has conducted themselves in an exemplary manner. They have shown across the parties that they do care about democracy and they care about the people who put them in power.”
