Lynn incinerator developer canvass for support in Aylsham supermaket

THE developer hoping to build an incinerator in Lynn has been canvassing for support for the scheme in a supermarket 40 miles away.

Anti-incinerator campaigner John Martin is concerned developer Cory Wheelabrator was running a stall in the Tesco store at Aylsham.

Cory and Norfolk County Council are working on plans to build the incinerator at the Willows Business Park in Saddlebow.

Last week the council and developer signed formal contracts and the planning application is going through a second round of public consultation.

Mr Martin said the people manning the stall were urging shoppers to sign a form addressed to the county council stating support for the scheme.

He said: “Cory Wheelabrator must be feeling desperate with the final consultation period coming to an end if they consider it necessary to travel as far east as Aylsham to garner support for the planning application.”
