ONE of West Norfolk’s representatives in Europe backed a heart charity’s fundraising campaign when he launched National Heart Month in Lynn.
Richard Howitt MEP joined patients, volunteers and fundraisers to paint giant red letters spelling out King’s Lynn at the town’s British Heart Foundation shop on Friday.
The charity wants people to join its Red for Heart campaign by baking red cakes, taking part in a red-themed quiz or using a swear box to stop seeing red.
Fundraising manager Alex Mayer said: “Heart disease can affect anyone, old or young,, so please join us to raise vital cash to fund life-saving research and equipment and you will have our heartfelt thanks.”
Mr Howitt said: “Sadly heart disease remains Britain’s biggest killer and 6,432 people in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk have coronary heart disease.
“I know we can count on residents to wear their heart on their sleeves and help raise vital funds to tackle heart disease.”
People can order a fundraising kit at www.bhf.org.uk/red or call 01223 862695.
