Lynn Camera Club – The club held open print and open digitally projected image competitions, judged by the president of Hunstanton Camera Club, Chris Holt.

Chris did not charge for his services but asked that the club donate to the Nepal School Appeal in support of the Sunuala Chowa village community school which is in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Forty-one entries in the DPI section were narrowed down to a final eleven from which the top three were chosen.

Ian Ward gained first place with an outstanding shot of a puffin in flight against an out of focus sea/sky background. It was a rare capture as often other views show the bird close to land and the positioning in the frame and the choice of depth of focus enhanced impact.

Recently joined member Jeremy Rodwell was second with a fine quality portrait in monochrome highlighting the personality of the subject, entitled “Karl is Cool”. Mike Brindle was third with a creative view of Dersingham Pier using the light and shapes to striking effect.

The high standard continued in the print section in which nine out of the nineteen entries were reviewed for final selection.

Tony Luxton gained first place with “Coming Aboard”, using a visually spectacular digital treatment to add impact to a section of the London Eye particularly emphasising one pod.

Ian Ward was second with a stunning macro shot of a Banded Damselfly made especially artistic by selective composition and light control.

Dennis Greenwood was third with “Cathedral of Light”, a powerful colour composition featuring rainbow colours shining from the stained glass windows of a cathedral projected on the paved floor.
