DOWNHAM MARKET: Man airlifted to hospital after gate incident

A man had to be airlifted to hospital after his legs were stuck in a metal gate.

The man, who is in his 60s, had to be cut free from a gate in Hilgay Road, Fordham, near Downham, at 11.10am today (Thursday, March 7).

Firefighters from Downham had to cut the gate to free the man.

He was then transported to Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital by the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

In a separate case, a Sea King helicopter had been called to the hospital for a medical transfer.
