Frozen in fear at Lynn flats

RESIDENTS of Hillington Square have raised concerns over the icy conditions across the estate.

A resident said: “Unless people are willing to take their life into their own hands, they can’t get out.

“An elderly woman had to spend a night in her flat with no gas or electric because she couldn’t get out of the square to pay for either.

“The square itself is like an ice rink and I’ve seen people falling over.

“Freebridge said that we have to wait for the ice to melt in the centre.”

A spokeman for Freebridge Community Housing said: “We appreciate that at this time of year pavements and walkways can become slippery and as such we do grit a number of areas within Hillington Square as a result.

“We gritted those areas on Monday and did so again on Wednesday.

“If anyone has specific problems they should contact us direct on 03332 404444.”
