Grimston: Assurance on village PO

POSTAL chiefs say they are still looking at options for a village after its branch closed.

Sub-postmaster Peter Joyce decided to close the counter at his shop, Grimston Post Office and Stores, on January 16 due to a change in contract.

Mr Joyce blamed the move on cutbacks and some villagers have protested against the cost saving plans.

Post Office spokesman Sally Hopkins said: “Customers can be assured that it remains our intention to keep a Post Office service in the area and we are investigating the options available.

“Our priority is to maintain services to the local community.”
