Lynn: Shedding the pounds

THE Stroke Association has joined forces with the Do Something Different programme to give people in West Norfolk the support they need to shed the pounds for good.

The programme is aimed at those who struggle to maintain their weight, with high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes or who have suffered a stroke.

Carmel Austin, Stroke Prevention Coordinator, said: “It is a real pleasure to run the programme and it is lovely to see the difference it is making to people’s lives.

“Our main aim is to change people’s habits and automatic choices to healthier ones which benefit their health and well-being.

“We give specific healthy eating advice and try to increase the activity levels in ways that will improve the mental well-being of the individual while helping to decrease levels of stress, depression and anxiety.”

The free seven-week programme starts next Tuesday and will be held from 11am-12.30pm in South Lynn Community Centre.

Booking is essential and can be done by contacting Stroke Prevention Coordinator Carmel Austin on 01553 631428.
