A NEW Year’s Eve party has raised more than £1,200 for the refurbishment of the Castle Acre ward of Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The cheque for £1,230 was handed over by maternity support worker Linda Payne and borough councillor Mark Shorting.

The cash was raised at a party at Reffley Community Centre, which also included a raffle.

Linda said: “We started fundraising around two years ago when we did another New Year’s party in memory of Mark’s brother who had died.

“We like to give the money to something worthwhile and with the refurbishment going on at the hospital, this can really help to get new machines and equipment.”

The pair are now looking forward to hosting more events later this year and they urge people to go along and support their fundraising efforts.

They also wish to thank Barry Francis, who ran the disco at the party and to everybody who went along and supported them.
