SANDRINGHAM: PCSO, 51, killed in car crash
A respected police community support officer was killed in a car crash on her way to work at Hunstanton Police Station yesterday morning.
Mother-of-four Sandra Greenacre, 51, died at the scene of the collision on the A149 at Sandringham.
PSCO Greenacre, who was known as Sandi, was a well-known for her work in the Hunstanton, Burnham Market and The Woottons.
She is the fifth person to die on Norfolk’s roads within a 48-hour period.
Tribute has been paid to married PCSO Greenacre. She has been described as “bubbly” by Hunstanton Inspector Debbie Gunnill.
Insp Gunnill said: “Sandi was a valued and well-liked member of the Hunstanton team and her bubbly personality will be missed.
“She was totally committed to her role, cared about victims and would do as much as she could to resolve community issues.
“The public respected her and this was borne out with the positive comments and number of thank you letters she received.
“Our thoughts are with her family at this time.”
PSCO Greenacre was heading towards Hunstanton on the A149 when her red Peugeot 107 was involved in a collision with a black Peugeot 206, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle attended the crash, which happened at 6.36am.
A second person was taken to Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with potential spinal injuries.
Four people have been killed in separate crashes in Hockering on Saturday and Hevingham on Sunday.
Chief Constable Phil Gormley has also paid tribute to PSCO Greenacre.
He said: “We were saddened and shocked to learn of the death of our colleague PCSO Greenacre in a road traffic collision.
“A number of families, friends and colleagues are today dealing with the devastating loss of a loved one from a weekend which has seen a shocking level of tragedy on Norfolk’s roads. We extend our sympathy to them all at this time.”
Hunstanton town councillor John Maiden said: “It is a tragic loss to the community.”
Police family liaison officers are working to support family members at this time.
Although investigations are continuing into the three collisions, police are warning motorists to drive cautiously in the snowy weather.
