ESTATE agents Russen and Turner have donated £200 to The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House at Snettisham – having decided to support the hospice’s work rather than sending out Christmas cards over the last festive season.
The cheque was presented by company directors Larry Russen and Edward Weightman to Tapping House community fundraiser Lindsey Atkin on Tuesday, at the firm’s office in Lynn’s High Street.
Russen and Turner’s financial controller Cathy Cairns said the firm had supported the charity in the past.
She said: “We decided not to send out Christmas cards but to donate the money instead.
“It is a local charity and we have supported it over the years.”
Tapping House staff care for 280 patients each month. It costs £1 million a year to run the hospice, which receives 11 per cent of its funding from the NHS.
Services include holistic day treatment, home support, education, counselling, complementary therapies and befriending.
It also provides support for carers and medical and nursing loans.
Last August work started on building a 12-bed hospice costing £4m at Hillington when the official turf cutting ceremony took place at the site.
