At least we spoke up for the tower
WE are all entitled to our views so I found it sad that the letter in the Lynn News from Name and Address supplied had a tantrum over those of us who appealed to Tesco not to destroy the famous tower and were disappointed by it’s destruction.
As far as I’m concerned, along with many others, Tesco had a great opportunity with the Campbell’s Tower. There was so much potential for it, as many readers had shown by sending in their suggestions to the Lynn News for its future use.
However, the tower is no longer with us and I look back with pride knowing that I did write to Tesco head office appealing for them not to demolish it.
I’m sure in the years ahead many will ask why on earth did you destroy that impressive tower. Sadly it seems a British tradition to put up fine buildings then destroy them years later. Presumably Name and Address supplied would also approve of the destruction of the Southgate arch?
