Don’t let them walk all over us
WHY does it seem that West Norfolk, especially around Lynn, is being used as a dumping ground?
We had a referendum on the incinerator which was ignored. We are told of all the hazards by people with knowledge. Their advice was ignored.
Now Caroline Spelman, the minister for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, gives the go-ahead for £69 million as the first public payments towards the incinerator. I doubt she has any idea where Lynn is apart from looking on a map.
I am also certain that she is not aware that we have a very high proportion of inhabitants in this area with asthma and other respiratory related dieses.
I would suggest that if our gutless county council goes ahead with the incinerator scheme rather than look for safer options, such as the digester scheme which was put forward, the amount saved on landfill will more than used, and quite possibly in law suits from families who have lost dear ones due to their respiratory conditions being exacerbated by the incinerator.
If they go ahead I think we should go down the same path as they did in Hull and hold a vote of no confidence. We are being walked over.
