Fantastic variety of acts to mark group's 25 years of shows
ON SATURDAY, May 16, I had the great pleasure of attending a production by Clenchwarton Methodist Entertainment Group (CMEG).
The songs and sketches performed celebrated 25 years of shows – a remarkable achievement in itself, but, what I was not prepared for was the fantastic variety of acts by a talented cast of 28, with ages ranging from young children to senior members of the community.
Colourful costumes, an atmosphere of sheer exuberance, and I have to say, amazing talent, combined to give the audience a real treat of an evening.
I also applaud the dedicated time (a special commodity in today’s distracting world) given to rehearsals and I found it most refreshing to have such accomplished live music accompanying the acts.
it would be unfair to name names but I will say the singing of three young girls, one of whom performed ballet, deserves a special mention, as does the lady who sang with the quieter accompaniment.
SKETCHES
The very enjoyable, witty and pithy sketches highlighted the cast’s acting as well as script writing abilities.
Last, but not least, congratulations to the two young lads for having the courage and obvious talent to tread the boards in an otherwise female dominated cast.
If you didn’t go you missed a good evening.
