Fishing for Herrings

I OFTEN wonder whether there are any relations of my late grandfather left in the King’s Lynn area.

My grandfather, Louis Herring was born in King’s Lynn in May 1875 and emigrated to South Africa in 1900

My grandmother, Louisa Jarrett, from Sedgeford, followed four years later and they were married in Cape Town, South Africa.

My great grandparents were Robert and Phoebe Herring of King’s Lynn. We understand they had nine or 10 children.

Two of them, Albert and Louis (may have been Lewis – we are not 100 per cent certain) both emigrated to South Africa.
