Go to top to make views known
I READ that Caroline Spelman has made her shameful decision to release PFI money for the financing of the proposed incinerator on the edge of our town.
Many thousands will be dismayed to hear this news, and want to do something about it. May I suggest that it will be a waste of time and effort to write to her?
I shall write a brief letter to the Prime Minister, asking him to relieve her of her duties.
She obviously is unable to distinguish between local and county-wide opposition.
She obviously is unable to distinguish between controversial and wrong-headed.
She obviously puts little faith in the views of over 65,000 local people and the arguments of many.
She obviously sets little store by the views and advice of her fellow Conservative Members of Parliament who represent the area.
She obviously thinks that increased opposition to the proposal goes to prove a broad consensus of agreement.
Whether or not she has over-ridden George Osborne’s objection to the building of an incinerator in his own constituency, she now has the smell of burning waste about her as strongly as if she had agreed to the building of an incinerator in her back garden.
I hope thousands more will write – not to Caroline Spelman, but to the Prime Minister. He needs to know.
