Have this on me for free George

George Osborne says that austerity may have to last till 2018 and VAT reach 25 per cent if he is to reduce the deficit. For what it is worth, I offer him my own five point plan:

1. Target benefits only to those who really need them and have earned them by previously paying something in – other countries have such systems

2. Keep up foreign aid that is serving a positive purpose, but cut, not redirect, that money which is being misused or is not needed

3. By all means cut the EU expense on inflated salary, perks and pensions for EU penpushers and MEPs but apply the same axe to those in Westminster and local government

4. Target all tax dodgers – including global companies who use foreign branches to dodge UK tax, and anyone – celebrities, BBC employees or agency supply teachers – who use offshore trusts or other “legal” means to cut the tax they pay. Earn your money here, pay tax here at the right rate.

5. Get out of the EU and stop having to pay extortionate membership fees.

Done. Deficit wiped out at a stroke and I won’t even charge him for the advice.
