How many of the amber gamblers on Lynn roads?

As a serving member of the Armed Forces I have often found myself sent abroad.

I have been to many diverse places from the Falkland Islands to Kuwait and Canada to Italy, and I can say with total honesty that the place with the worst driving standards was Palermo in Sicily.

However, after living in Lynn for more than 17 years, I now realise that Lynn runs it a close second.

In recent weeks I have seen a First National bus, and last night, a supermarket fuel tanker jump a red light.

One of these was in front of a Police car!

Has the highway code changed and an amber light now means speed up to get through before it turns red rather than prepare to stop. While I’m on the subject, has West Norfolk council passed a local by-law allowing people to drive with a mobile phone clamped to their ear?

On my 36-mile round-trip to work and back I can guarantee to see at least three people on their phones.

The worst perpetrator was a large recovery truck driver with his right hand to his left ear and his left hand across his chest as he made his way around a roundabout!

Next time you’re out and about in Lynn have a go at counting how many you can spot.

My record is five amber gamblers and two mobile phones in one two- mile journey.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg, is Railway Road a proving ground for 0 to 60mph times?

Do Lynn people know what an indicator is used for?

Is it obligatory to park your car on the inside of a blind bend? The list is endless.

Incidently, Narborough must have the fastest drivers in Norfolk given the number of speed cameras I’ve passed there in recent months, or are the Police delibrately targeting servicemen on their way to and from work?

They are always there between 7-8am and 4-5 pm, or maybe that's just a coincidence!

Yours seethingly.
