Stand by for the will of the people
YESTERDAY I found myself listening to one of Mr Bellingham’s party chums, Daniel Hanrahan, on Radio 4.
It was very early in the morning so I was still a bit drowsy. I listened intently, however, and yes he definitely said it. Tory MPs should respond to the democratic will of their constituents regardless of other considerations.
I then read Roger May’s column in Lynn News and can’t really imagine enough of the electorate voting our Henry out at the next general election. As Mr May says, Mr Bellingham has an admired reputation as a hard-working constituency MP.
Voting him out should, however, now be everyone’s intention.
Caroline Spelman’s decision clearly indicates that the wishes of local people count for nothing. Meanwhile, we hear continued calls to fight the incinerator plan. More legal challenges – pointlessly expensive.
Dare I suggest making it clear to local council officials that there are enough of us ready to consider direct (non-violent) action? In West Norfolk– surely unthinkable? Yeah I guess so!
