What’s so wrong with dreaming?
IN reply to Stuart Corrigan’s letter of last Friday regarding a railway between Hunstanton and King’s Lynn, yes I am a dreamer and feel passionate about the area in which I live. But I am not so blinded on this issue not to be aware and understand the many problems of realising this particular dream.
But problems must not be allowed to cloud a subject until all the issues are first investigated, otherwise nothing would ever be accomplished.
I assume Mr Corrigan was not present at the well advertised talk and presentation given on the line in Hunstanton last Tuesday when we would have welcomed his views to add to the discussion as there was not one in the audience who expressed any dissent, in principle, to the motion.
Having staged five relevant exhibitions in Hunstanton in recent years, an overwhelming majority of visitors were equally of the same view as those of our audience which is the reason I for one feel the issue should be fully aired before it is condemned.
In many areas around the country, lines have eventually been re-instated and are now enjoying tremendous success as a tourist attraction, such as the North Norfolk Line, to the benefit of the whole area.
By the way, Holt has a similar population to Hunstanton and is now connected, albeit limited, to the national network.
It’s time for us to find ways of doing things rather than raising reasons why the should not be done, leading to stagnation and a suffocation of ideas and therefore progress.
