SCHOOLS CLOSED TODAY (THURSDAY)

Fewer schools are closed in West Norfolk this (Thursday, Jan 17) morning, with closures across the county also down from 250-plus yesterday to 91 today.

In this area 16 schools are shut, although Methwold primary is opening at 10am to give staff the chance to travel in safely and exams are going ahead at others.

West Norfolk schools closed today are:

Duchy Of Lancaster CE Primary School, Methwold - School closed until 10:00 today to give staff chance to travel in safely

Edmund De Moundeford VC Primary School, Feltwell - unfortunately paths are still dangerous to enter school for pupils, parents and staff, and staff are unable to safely travel over long journeys so conditions are still not suitable to open, apologies

Fakenham High School & College - Dangerous icy conditions on site - parents’ evening postponed until 14/2 [text sent yesterday] - EXAMS go ahead

Fakenham Infant & Nursery School - Fakenham Gateway Sure Start Children’s Centre will also be closed. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Fakenham Junior School - School site is unsafe and travel problems for staff

Great Dunham Primary School - Road conditions dangerous

Hockwold & Methwold Community School - Iceni Academy closed on both sites. ICT exam will go ahead. Year 9 Pathways Evening is cancelled and will now be on 24th January, 7pm.

Litcham School - Closed today due to continuing adverse weather and travel conditions (Primary and Secondary Sites).

Mundford VC Primary School - Sorry, but we cannot guarantee sufficient teaching staff will be able to get into school today, due to freezing fog and ice on roads. The school site continues to be extremely hazardous.

Sculthorpe CE VA Primary School - School will remain closed today. After driving along Creake Road yesterday afternoon to check school, I found the road still extremely dangerous with compacted ice making access to school far too hazardous for pupils, parents and staff. Also no heating in main school due to frozen pipes. We hope to open tomorrow at 10am.

St. Clement’s High School, Terrington St Clement - School closed due to unsafe road conditions for parents/carers, students and staff. Please note that Year 11 Parents Evening is cancelled tonight.

Swaffham CE VC Infant School - Hazardous for pupils and staff to get to school.

Swaffham CE VC Junior School - Due to adverse travelling conditions, we cannot guarantee sufficient staff to ensure the safety of the children.

The Nicholas Hamond Academy, Swaffham - Due to continuing unsafe conditions on site.

Weeting VC Primary School - School closed due to dangerous driving conditions for staff. Therefore, can’t guarantee sufficient staff numbers and safety for children.

West Raynham CE VC Primary School - We are sorry to have to close again today. After driving over to the school yesterday afternoon it was clearly apparent the roads are extremely dangerous with compacted ice and we CANNOT risk pupils, parents or staff travelling on such roads to school. We hope to open tomorrow at 10am.
