The girls who went to the Lake District
SMILING through the folds of this photograph which is at least 50 years old are these girls who had apparently been on a trip to the Lake District.
The picture belonged to the late first wife of Derek Younge (75), of Castle Rising Road, South Wootton, who uncovered the photo during a clear-out.
A note on the back simply says: "The girls who went to the Lake District" along with a list of names.
Mr Younge does not know what year it was taken, but believes late wife Brenda, ne Guy, (front far left) is seen with school pals at Gaywood Park School. Mr Younge met Brenda when she was sweet sixteen and the pair married four years later in 1954.
Sadly, Mrs Younge died of cancer in 1984 – the year the couple would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Mr Younge went on to meet and marry current wife, widow Jean, who lost her first husband to cancer in the same year Mrs Younge died.
Here are the names we've been given for the group: back row – B Twite, J Clarke, I ?, V ?, N ?, C Junry; middle – A
Howell, P Burke, R Song, J Pitt, J Lister, E Irwin; front – B Guy, M Golbinith, D Cross, J Hunter, J Gratwick, A Pratt, ? Loveridge.
