SOME of Downham's hidden delights will be on view for the first time when St Edmund's church holds an open gardens event in July, in aid of church funds.
The gardens taking part – one attached to a house dating from 1653 – will be open during Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6.

Called A Blooming Day Out, as well as garden viewing the event will also feature plant sales and attractions, such as a tour of historic St Edmund's with an opportunity to climb the church tower.

"The English garden may be seen in all its variety" said church public relations officer Leonard Allen.

"One garden will feature more than 100 varieties of rose."
