DOWNHAM'S dragon-boaters are hunting for challengers to take them on in a charity race at the town's Water Festival this summer.
Festival organisers said there were still boats left to be filled in the fun event and called for clubs, pubs and organisations to enter teams for the race on Sunday, August 10.

Howard Phillips, chairman of the festival working party, said no experience or equipment was necessary and each dragon boat was provided with an on-board coach at the helm. "You don't have to be Downham based – there are plenty of Downham teams entered itching to rise to the challenge against crews from other areas," he said.

Participants must be 12 years or older and be able to swim, although the race will be patrolled by safety boats.

For more information and application forms contact Mr Phillips on 01945 430880 or 07770 756614.
