BOUNCING babies were the order of the day at Downham Festival on Thursday.
The ever-popular baby show was held in the Salvation Army Meeting Place in Bridge Street at 1.30pm and attracted a bumper entry of around 50.

Organised by the festival committee, the babies were judged in three categories: birth to six months; seven months to 12 months and 13 months to 24 months.

Entry was 50p per baby, an independent judge, Downham-based health visitor Ms Sonya Moss choosing the first three babies in each category.

The first-placed babies each received £15 and a voucher from Bex Photography, of Richmond Road, Downham, for a £50 photographic portrait.

The second-placed babies won £10 each, and the third placed £5 each.

Winner of the birth to six-month category Pagan Cunningham-Smith received her prizes from Town Mayor John Leach while the seven month to 12-month winner Ethan Beale got his prizes from Mayoress Mrs Joyce Leach.

Winners of the oldest category were not recorded but the first-placed baby received its prize from Deputy Town Mayor John Doyle.

Bex Photography took pictures of all the babies who entered the competition, the prints then available for their families during the afternoon.

The 34th Downham Festival ended on Sunday.
