RESIDENTS of Wade-Wright Court, Downham, have contributed £2,000 towards the massive overheads of keeping the East Anglian Air Ambulance in action.
The cash was raised mainly from a recent fete and garden party, and from a resident who requested donations for the air ambulance instead of gifts for her 80th birthday.

The two previous fetes were staged in the grounds in brilliant sunshine, but most of this year's event was switched indoors due to heavy rain.

One event which remained outside was the stocks and wet sponges with a willing Michael Ayden, house manager, volunteering for the short straw.

Special guest John Leach, Downham Town Mayor, joined in the fun, and aimed a few wet sponges himself during the afternoon.
