HUNDREDS of colurful dragons were in Downham Town Hall on Saturday, but they were all on their best behaviour.
The mythical creatures had all been brought to life through the imagination of local children who were invited to join in a colouring competition organised by Downham Heritage Society as part of the town's St George's Day celebrations.
Winners were Amber Kirk (10), Joanna Carter (5), and Zara Barlow (8), are pictured with their entries and prizes, received from Downham Town Mayor, John Leach, and the Heritage Society's Dave Flower.
Downham Chamber of Trade organised a best-dressed window competition for St George's Day, an initiative which was taken up by 35 shop keepers.
The winners shield went to Sew In, with East Anglian Children's Hospice shop, second and Reeds, third.
"Downham Market may not be a very big town but it should be proud that during this very difficult trading period, shops have found the time and energy to mark St George's Day," said the Chamber's Margaret Key.
