A JAM-packed day of free sporting activities was enjoyed by youngsters in Downham as part of efforts to showcase the array of facilities on offer in the town.
The event, held at Downham Leisure Centre and the community hall and field, saw young visitors try their hand at sports including archery, boxing, climbing and Tae Kwon Do.

Mobile skate ramps and water walkers for the swimming pool were also available while representatives from Norfolk Fire Service were on hand to offer road safety advice before demonstrating what it is like to be in a car when a roof has to be removed to rescue a casualty.

The day was organised as part of a joint initiative involving West Norfolk Council, Downham Town Council, Norfolk Police and Norfolk County Council.

Downham Town Mayor John Leach said: "It went very well. It was a fun day to encourage youngsters to experience different sports and activities and get them away from the television and computers.

"The leisure centre is a brilliant unit and the water walkers were absolutely superb."
