THE family of a six-year-old girl who died from heart problems have thanked those who looked after her in hospital by handing over more than £1,300 donated in her memory.
Hannah Gray collapsed and died just yards from her home in Elizabeth Avenue, Downham, in December, just eight weeks after heart surgery at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The Clackclose Primary School pupil was born with only three chambers in her heart instead of four, and underwent major surgery at 16-weeks-old and at 17 months.
Hannah, who was nominated for a Lynn News Superkid award by her grandmother, Sandra Armsby, in 2003, had been an active member of the junior church at Downham from the age of three and had touched the hearts of the whole congregation.
A total of £746.21 was donated at her funeral at Downham Methodist Church, and £600 was raised by the town's Crown Hotel. A further £25 was donated from the Downham Mayor's Award for Citizenship which Hannah received posthumously.
Hannah's parents, Justin and Rachel, her sisters, Lucie and Freya, and brothers, Christopher and Martin, thanked everyone for their donations, which have now been given to Dr Graham Derrick, a consultant paediatric cardiologist from Great Ormond Street Hospital.
