MARTIAL arts stars have been put through their paces in a 24-hour marathon challenge which raised more than £1,500 for charity.
North Norfolk Karate Club members performed a variety of disciplines including basic training, kata, weapons training and other martial arts aspects such as philosophy and meditation as part of the fundraiser, which was staged at Wimbotsham Village Hall.

Proceeds from the day have been divided between the NSPCC and RNLI.

Challenge participant and club member Mrs Helen Gooding said: "It was just one of those spur of the moment things and we thought if it was successful we may do another. Everyone was really up for it. We knew it would be difficult at certain times in the early morning but on the whole it went very well and there was a great atmosphere."

The club will be holding a self-defence class at the Howdale Centre, Downham, on Saturday, May 24, and is also looking for new members to join the group. For more information contact instructor Simon Ward on 01366 381064.
