THE lead singer of an up-and-coming band nominated for a prestigious songwriting award – alongside songstress Amy Winehouse – is giving an intimate acoustic gig at Fakenham's Gallery Bistro next Friday (May 9).
Jamie Hartman (pictured), who named his London band Ben's Brother after his older sibling, is performing his last gig before the band's new album is released.

But with more than 70 tickets already sold, anyone wanting to get hold of the last remaining tickets needs to be quick.

The band, which released its latest single Stuttering (Kiss Me Again) on Monday, has been nominated for an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting in the princiapl category for best song musically and lyrically.

The band's second single Let Me Out , which comes from their 2007 album Beta Male Fairytales, is up against Amy Winehouse's Love Is A Losing Game and You Know I'm No Good. The winners will be announced on Thursday, May 22.

Although the band is relatively unknown, Jamie has written hits for a number of artists including Natalie Imbruglia, Emma Bunton and Lemar.

He also penned All Time Love for Will Young, which reached number three in the UK charts in 2005.

Tickets for the evening cost £22.50 and are available by contacting the Market Square venue on 01328 855000. Doors open at 7pm.

Tonight the Gallery Bistro welcomes "the king of Cockney comics", Mickey Pugh. Tickets, costing £10 including a buffet, can be booked on the number above. Doors open from 7pm.

And tomorrow night is a charity Race Night from 7pm, with proceeds going towards three local football clubs – Fakenham Town, Hindringham and Wells. Entry is free.
