LYNN'S South Gates opens to the public tomorrow (May 31) with a volley of musket rounds.
Re-enactors will be dressed in historic clothing to give a talk about England in 1643, when rebel Parliamentarians laid seige in Lynn as part of their campaign to oust King Charles I from the throne and have the country run by Parliament.

Lynn Royalists put up a fight and around 80 people were killed, but they surrendered when the Parliamentarians cut off the town's water supply and blockaded shipping.

During tomorrow's event, which starts at 1pm, re-enactors will fire the kind of muskets that would have been used during the fighting. Lynn Police will be on hand to ensure people are not alarmed.

Volunteer gate-keepers are working in partnership with West Norfolk Council to reopen the gate on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons in June, July and August.

Admission costs 80p for adults and children go free.
