Music - Eco (gig) disaster
A special eco-rock concert planned for later this month has been scrapped due to a lack of volunteers.
Community music project Norfolk Music Works (NMW) has been working with young people in the Swaffham area to organise an eco-arts day, including a junk percussion workshop and exhibition exploring environmental issues.
The event was due to culminate in a rock concert featuring local bands at the town's Assembly Rooms, but, as The Page reported last week, very few volunteers or acts went along to an open day held earlier this month, leaving many roles unfilled just weeks before the event was due to take place.
A second volunteer session was held last Wednesday in a last-ditch attempt to save the project, but its fate was sealed when nobody turned up.
General manager at NMW, Ema Holman, said: "We have had one or two people express an interest, but in all honesty it's not enough."
