For the best part of a year, Fakenham town clerk Jan Perfect has been managing town council business on her own from her office at Fakenham Connect. Now she is delighted to be joined by an assistant clerk to help her carry out the increasingly wide range of council responsibilities.
Mrs Jane Gant, pictured left, was appointed prior to the May council meeting and immediately found herself thrown in at the deep end. “Within days of my arrival Jan took off for two weeks holiday so I’m having to get on with things as best I can,” she said. “Fortunately I know the town very well, having spent all my married life in Fakenham.”

Mrs Gant is married to Richard and they have a son, Ben, who is a Year 11 student at Fakenham High School, just about to take his GCSE exams.

She was formerly employed at solicitors Butcher Andrews and currently supports the work of the Citizens Advice Bureau as well as working for Fakenham Photosetting on the industrial estate.

Her part-time role with the council initially involves her for three days a week.

“I was really pleased to get this position as there are so many interesting aspects to the job,” she said.
