PLANS are well in hand for a major art show which it is hoped could become a regular event.
Over 230 entries were submitted for the inaugural Fakenham Contemporary Art exhibition due to take place in the parish church in July.
This was far more than could be accommodated and was eventually reduced to 85, representing the work of 51 Norf
olk artists.
Organised by Keith and Debbie Osborn of Hillside Gallery and Studios on the outskirts of Fakenham, the exhibition will present contemporary approaches to art through a wide range of media including ceramics, collage, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and textiles.
Apart from the organisers, the selection panel comprised local artist Pat Bustin, Christopher Harrison of Bircham Gallery and Fakenham rector the Rev Adrian Bell. Commenting on the entries, Keith Osborn said: "The quality and range of the work submitted has been excellent and it was a challenging task to make the final choice.
"I am sure those pieces selected will make for a very exciting exhibition."
the Rev Bell said: "The vibrancy and variety of the work we viewed was breathtaking.
"I am very much looking forward to seeing the selected work displayed in the church and to welcoming visitors from our local community and the rest of the county."
The exhibition runs from Thursday, July 2, until Sunday, July 12.
It will be open from 10am to 4pm and there will be a special service for artists and the arts on Sunday July 5 at 10.30am.
An arts activities day for families will take place on Saturday, July 11, in St Peter's Garden.
There will be a late opening from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, July 9.
