LIFELONG Linnets fan David Wright submitted a newspaper article about ex-Lynn player Alan Dunn.
Dunn, who was part of the Linnets side who took on Everton in the club's greatest-ever FA Cup run of 1961/62, had more reason than many to remember the tragic 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster this week.

For Dunn, who is still based in the West Midlands, was a former team-mate of Dudley-born Duncan Edwards, one of the Manchester United players killed in the air crash.

Alan, who is now aged 72, signed as a youngster for United and shared accomodation with Edwards, one of the "Busby Babes" who died as a result of the crash on February 6, 1958.

Alan shared a room with Duncan and two other young footballers at United, Mark Jones and Dave Pegg.

Speaking about the late Edwards, Alan said: "He was a great bloke, rough and ready but when he played football nothing could faze him.

"Nobody could make an impression on him, if players got nasty he just got on with it.

"You could see in Duncan power, determination, skill and love of football."

The tragic 50th anniversary was remembered worldwide this week and Alan said: "I felt terrible after the crash, really upset and when I think about what happened to such great players I want to cry."
