Why was the Lynn News not asked?

I regularly read or hear that our ambition is to get into the 'Conference set up'.
In 1997 when we were in the Southern League Premier which at the time was only one level below the elite non-league, some ground improvements were made to satisfy Conference standard, with the aim to be in the Conference by the year 2000.
With the quality of players we have got we won't need the play-offs this season.
But whether it's the Blue Square South or North next season, we will still only be where we were in 1997 – which will still be one level below the elite in non-league, and playing teams like Eastleigh or Gainsborough.
Until we are up against teams such as York City and Oxford United, we will not have reached our ambition.
Why were the Lynn News not asked if they wanted to continue their sponsorship for this season?
The Lynn News had been good enough to sponsor the Linnets for seven years and would most probably have continued to do so.
A better idea would have been to ask for sponsors to fund work to cover behind one of the goals.
