HUNSTANTON enjoyed one of its most successful kite festivals and classic car rallies to date when the rain relented and gave way to sunshine on Sunday.
Around 5,000 visitors attended Hunstanton Rotary Club's main fundraiser of the year – around double the number who came last year when the popular event was hit by terrible weather.

Club treasurer David Dobby also expected the amount of money raised for local charities to reach in excess of £7,500.

He said the club was "absolutely delighted" with the day, especially considering the wet weather first thing in the morning.

"At 7.15am it was looking pretty forlorn but by late morning the rain had stopped, the sun came out and the stall holders were turning up. By afternoon the place was absolutely manic and we had to open more car parking space which we've ever had to do before."

The professional kite flying displays this year were joined by more than 200 vehicles from classic car and motorbike clubs, and the day climaxed with a spectacular fly-past from the RAF display team, The Red Arrows.

There was a craft fair, stalls and trade stands, a children's fairground and traction engine rides.
