A 70-YEAR-OLD retired printer's cycle ride of 900 miles in 14 days has raised more than £6,000 for research into the rare cancer his sister-in-law is battling.
Grandfather-of-five Trev Riches was the oldest person in a 20-strong team to complete a Cycle Touring Club-organised trip from Land's End to John O'Groat's.

He has already received more than £6,300 for research into little-heard-of cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei at Basingstoke Hospital, where his sister-in-law and neighbour Maggie Riches (58) has received care, and there may still be more to come.

Mr Riches, of West Road, Dersingham, said: "The fundraising went ever so well and absolutely beyond my wildest dreams."

He sent thanks to everyone who supported him, including Lynn News readers who donated after reading about his efforts, and has not ruled out the possibility of taking on the challenge again.

He said: "It's a bit like what a woman goes through having a baby. They must think while they are doing it 'I'm not doing this again', then a little while afterwards you think 'maybe I will do it again'."
