HEACHAM children have no reason to be bored this summer holiday as the parish council has organised a host of activities to keep them busy and away from the TV.
Everything from archery to street dance is on offer over the coming weeks during the Summer Activities Scheme which is organised by the parish council and partially subsidised through grants and sponsorship. Heacham Club Charity provides the venue for most of the courses (places to be booked), which are:
- Tennis, Monday and Tuesday with beginners/younger improvers from 9.45am to 11.15am and improvers from 11.15am to 1.15pm, £10 at the village tennis courts.
- Jurassic Creations, Friday, July 25, create a pet dinosaur model at the public hall from 10am to noon. Age seven and over (parents welcome to join in), £4.50.
- Clay pigeon shooting on Monday, July 28, and Tuesday, July 29, at Heacham Chalk Pit. Rifle range and target practice also on offer. Over-eights from 11am to 12.45pm and 2pm to 3.45pm, £2 a session.
- Carpet bowls for the over-tens, no need to book. On the following Tuesdays: July 29, August 5, 19 and 26 from 3-4.30pm at the public hall, £1 a session.
- Soccer skills day at the sports field including world cup tournament. Wednesday, July 30, and Thursday, July 31, from 10am to 3pm, £20 for the day.
- Flower art at the public hall on Friday, August 1, from 10-11.45am and Friday, August 22, at the same times. For the over-sevens, £3.50 a workshop.
- Circus workshop, skills and games at the public hall, Friday, August 1 from 10am to 11.45am ages 4-7, £5.
- Kayaking at Snettisham Sailing Club. Taster sessions on Tuesday, August 5, from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm; for the over-eights, £25 a session. Skill development session on Tuesday, August 19, for the over-eights, £25.
- Mini beasts with the Norfolk Wildlife Trust at St Mary's Church on Thursday, August 7, from 10am-12.30pm, over-sevens, £7.50
- Egyptian crafts at the public hall on Friday, August 8, from 10am to noon, over-sevens, £4.
- Street dance at the public hall on Monday, August 11, from 10am to noon for the over-eights, £4.
- Olympic Challenge in a variety of athletics at the sports field, Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13, 9.30-11am ages 5-7; 11.15am-1pm over-eights, £8.
- Archery at Heacham tennis courts on Thursday, August 14, 9.30am to 11am, ages 8-9; 11.15am-12.45pm over-10s and 1.30-3pm, family, £8.
- Fencing at the public hall on Friday, August 15 from 10am-11am for ages seven to eight and 11.15-12.15pm for ages nine and over, £4.
- Table tennis at the public hall on Monday, August 18, from 10am-11am ages seven to nine and 11am to 12.30pm for over-tens, £4.
- Climbing wall at the football field on Thursday, August 21; 10am to 11.30am, ages seven to nine and 11.30am to 1pm for over-tens, £8 a session.
